Africa, Kilimanjaro & Zanzibar (September)

Postby Jacqui » Tue 16 Mar 2010 23:39

Hi,
I'm looking to trek up kilimanjaro (africa's highest mountain) and then spend some time relaxing on Zanzibar- timings of this trip is hopefully to be September 2010 - I need to be back to continue with my college course (psychology) at the end of September and am hoping to go to reading festival (UK) over the August bank holiday - so my ideal time to travel would be in between these dates. The guide books say that this is a good time to travel to this part of the world.
I've been to travel clinic today to start thinking about vaccinations - thought it would be a good idea! You need six consecutive weeks prior to travel date to fit all injections in.
I've never traveled in Africa on my own before and as a fair skinned blonde female would rather travel with a friend! Hopefully it would help halve the nerves and double the fun!

If you fancy an adventure/beach holiday in the beautiful continent of Africa why not drop me a line?

Hi Ragz,

Sorry haven't logged in for a while and was also in deliberation as to what I was going to do-
It's getting close to the time where I have to decide what sort of trip I want to complete- and I I don't think that I am going to have enough money to trek Kilimanjaro this time. But I still would like to go to Tanzania and Zanzibar and would be up for that if you wanted??
You would still need all the injections as Tanzania is a malarial infected area but not all the (expensive) kit that is needed to climb the mountain. Tanzaniz and Zanzibar and possibly Pemba should be quite hot 30 C in September for me that's a good reason to go!

Do you have any views on what you'd like to see/do?
Cheers
